It is believed that this Norton International was fitted with frame number 1498HE originally and was entered in the 1952 Senior Clubman’s TT. The rider at the time being E. G Pantlin, who achieved 22nd out of some 60 finishers, with an average speed of 75. 6mph. The Clubman’s TT machines had different Internationals and had an all-aluminum engine, and the Manx magnesium cam-box and Manx Cams. They were also fitted with special close-ratio 1st gear and fitted with a vented front brake, which is still fitted. Sadly, there is no evidence to go with the machine.
The machine was kept by its first owner until 1990. It changed hands to the second owner sometime in 1993 and the owner at the time set about doing a full and complete restoration in 1997. Once the restoration had been completed it was kept in his private collection until 2000. The vendor then sold the Norton because of his disabilities and was subsequently sold again; the new owner at the time only used the Norton for a very short time. Not used for serval years it will require re-commissioning before returning to the road. A factory standard machine, apart from a dual-seat, there is a current V5C present.
