Triumph is one of the most iconic and revered names in the history of motorcycling. Established in Coventry in 1885, by the start of the 1900s the company had made its first motorcycle beginning a continuous run of production under various ownership until its eventual closure in 1983 before its rebirth in the early 1990s. In 1937 the Edward Turner-designed Speed Twin was released launching a range of Triumph twins that went on to epitomize British motorcycles in the post-war years. Many believe the various Bonneville, Tiger and Trophy models to be the ultimate version of the classic British vertical twin and the late 196os pre oil-in-frame models represent the peak of development of Triumph's most iconic model. The company supplied many police forces around the world with bikes, especially in the Commonwealth, with some of these making their way back to civvy street.
This Tiger 100 is thought to have started life as a police bike, with the engine number reading T100P H67211, thats been put back into standard trim at some point. Owned by the vendor for the last 10 years as part of his private collection, 'Old Bill' as he is affectionately known, has been much loved but sadly is no longer being used so the time is right for it to go to a new home. He reports it's been 'a great reliable runner in good condition' in his time of ownership and the bike comes supplied with a current V5C.
