Description

We proudly present this beautiful and rare Maserati Bora in right hand drive, 1 of only 27 RHD examples produced, Finished in " Rosso Fuoco" with Black Leather interior trim.

Original supplied new by Citroen Cars Slough and registered 20th August 1973, Designed by Giugario of Turin, The Bora was fitted with a 4700cc Quad Cam Maserati V8 Engine with four twin choke down draught Weber carburettors. 5 Speed ZF Transaxle, front coil and rear wishbone suspension. Capable of 0-60mph in 6 seconds and a top speed of 168MPH.
The Bora was Maserati's first mid engined supercar following the trend started by Lamborghini with the Miura. The Bora was introduced after Citroen's takeover of Maserati it was also the first to use Citroen's high pressure hydraulic system for its brakes.
The suspension retained conventional steel springs and shock absorbers. The Bora provides huge performance from its V8 engine whose prodigious torque and flexibility distinguishes Maserati's from its contemporaries and is almost a signature for the Marque. Even today, more than 50 years after its birth the top speed and acceleration is still highly impressive even when compared to modern supercars.

The Engines placement provides perfect 50:50 weight distribution, the luggage compartment in the front nose is sufficiently sized. The interior of the Bora is shaped and crafted around the drivers and passenger who recline on luxurious Leather seats beautifully decorated with hand stitched Leather. A broad array of high quality instruments are presented in a console which wraps round the drivers arc of vision. The unpainted polished Aluminium roof specified by most Bora owners when first delivered provides one of the model's most distinguishing visual features.

Continuing the luxurious theme, air conditioning - a rare and very expensive fitment in the 1970's was a standard feature which further added to the cars ability to be used seriously for European tours in comfort and speed.

The Bora was one of the fastest production cars of its day and nearly the most expensive costing £10345 in 1971.

Total production numbers of the Bora were believed to have been 495 cars, of which only 27 were right hand drive which makes this a very rare car.

During 2018 to 2020 this Bora was subject to an extensive chassis up cosmetic restoration which included various panelwork and a bare metal repaint, the chassis was completely stripped, sandblasted and powder coated, All the suspension and rear axle was powder coated / anodized (see photos attached). All new brake pipes and brake hoses, a new clutch was also fitted, A photographic library of the restoration is also on file with the owner stating the spend was circa £50, 000.

Supplied with an extensive history file with 21 old MOT certificate on file, various old tax discs and old V5's.

Presented in fantastic condition.

Electronic version of the service history available on request.
