1984 Ferrari 400i Registration Number: B262 XYR Chassis Number: ZFFEB06Cthe details below Recorded Mileage: c. 46, 500 miles - Former Ferrari Owners Club Concours winner - Over £40, 000 in maintenance invoices during current ownership The Ferrari 365 GT4 2+2 was introduced in 1976 as the successor to the rather larger 365 GT 2+2. With its much sleeker looks the Ferrari 365, also designed by Pininfarina, remained in production with very few styling changes until 1989 and proved to be a great success for the company. The 365 evolved into the 400, the first Ferrari equipped with automatic transmission. In 1979 the 400 was replaced by the fuel injected 400i. Differences between the 400 and 400i were limited to the fuel injected engine and an “i” badge on the tail. Towards the end of 1982 the 400i was updated. New camshaft profiles and exhaust headers raised engine power to 315 PS (232 kW). The interior was significantly revised, gaining new seating, door panels, centre console and new electronic switchgear. On the exterior a narrower grille left the rectangular fog-lights exposed; and the venting on the engine bonnet was changed from silver to body-colour. New, more elegant wing mirrors were fitted, bearing a small Ferrari shield. Around the back the tail panel was body-coloured instead of matte black, and foglamps were fitted in the bumper. Lower profile Michelin TRX tyres were adopted, on metric sized wheels. A total of 1305 examples were produced, 883 Automatics and 422 GTs. This super UK-delivered 400i has been carefully owned by one enthusiast for the last 13 or so years. Now showing a shade over 46, 000 miles recorded, the 400i comes complete with a comprehensive file of invoices for maintenance works and repairs over the years, courtesy of Ferrari main agents and marque specialists. The original Ferrari folder, service book, manuals, and brochure are present with the car, in addition to a number of older MOT test certificates. The most recently recorded service was at 46, 396 miles; we understand over £40, 000 has been invested in the car during current ownership, including a major overhaul in 2011 at a cost of c.£24, 000. Notably the 400i has participated and won in Ferrari Owners Club concours events over the years. Presented in Azzuro Metallic Blue with Crema leather interior, this is clearly a well maintained example of Ferrari’s understated V12-engined GT, a model which has now firmly come of age in the classic car market.
