Description
The last of the XK series, the XK-150 was the larger of Jaguars 50’s sports cars, making it the perfect European tourer with increased interior space, improved visibility and the addition of disc brakes made the entire driving experience worlds apart from its predecessors.
Towards the end of 1959 the XK-150 became available with the 3. 8-litre engine making it much more powerful than the earlier 190-bhp 3. 4-litre versions. 220-bhp was the standard of the day unless the ‘S’ specification was ordered from the factory which increased power output to 265-bhp, allowing these cars to achieve speeds in excess of 130 mph.
CKL are delighted to offer this rare example of a beautifully maintained right-hand drive XK-150 'S' 3. 8 litre Drophead Coupe. With just 69 cars ever produced, this is a rare opportunity to own one of Jaguars’ most sought after XK’s.
599 HYX rolled off the production line on the 24th May 1960, and was supplied new to Henlys of London. The history file for this car is extensive and shows that the car has been in careful ownership in years gone by. This XK-150 ‘S’ drophead coupe has undergone sympathetic restoration over the years and now benefits from subtle upgrades such as a 5-speed gearbox and electric power steering making it a much more useable tourer.
Offered today in the desirable combination of British racing green with a green leather interior this car is in incredibly good condition. A recent visit to CKL for a no expense spared cylinder head overhaul shows the current owner continues to take great care of the car which is now performing extremely well and is ready for a new home.
