Description
From September 1958, the Ponton Mercedes saloon was joined by a coupe and convertible with mechanical intake manifold injection - called the 220 SE. Production of the saloon was discontinued in August 1959 in favour of its successor (tail fin). From August 1959, the Coupe and Cabriolet - which initially continued to be built - received the new 6-cylinder engines of the 220 SEb ( tail fin ) with now straight intake manifolds and a steeper camshaft, which then provided 120 hp in the 220 SE. Production of the Ponton coupes and convertibles was also discontinued in November 1960. Only 1, 112 examples of the Ponton 220 SE Cabriolet were built. This 220 SE Cabriolet was delivered in Germany in 1960 and was only rarely driven. The car is currently in 3rd hand and has probably only covered a total mileage of 77, 500 kilometres. The beautiful interior in original condition with some patina seems to confirm this low mileage. The car has always been well maintained and is registered and ready for immediate use. Owners says the car is in 3rd hand with him since 10 years and he was told that the mileage shown of 77. 500 km is believed to be original total mileage. The very nice original interior seems to certify that. This 220 SE was always serviced well and is road registred and ready to go.
