Description
This is the first version of the "Big" Healeys. From 1960 on, the 100/ 6 model became available with a slightly bigger 3, 0 litre six cilinder engine, and the name changed to Austin-Healey 3000.
This Mk1 is a 2+2 version, officially called the BT7. These two little seats in the back are ideal for children, to store some luggage or even taking your dog(s) with you. This example is professionally restored 15 years ago, and kept in immaculate condition since. The paint quality is from a very high level, and the shutlines on this Austin-Healey are perfect which is rather unusual on this type of car. On top of that, it is a rare European specification car which was delivered new in Germany on the 23th of July 1960 and comes with a BMIHT Heritage Certificate to prove. The car is equiped from new with most of the available options : heater, electrical overdrive, wire wheels and laminated windscreen. It is finished in a gorgeous colour combination of Black over Colorado Red. The interior is in matching red hide which suits this Austin-Healey extremely well. The car sits on painted wire wheels fitted with recent Vredestein Classic tyres. There is a lot of documentation in the file including many restoration and service invoices. The Austin-Healey has a Belgian registration.
Driving this Big Healey is pure enjoyment. The car feels rock solid without any rattles, and steers and brakes as it should. The 4-speed gearbox with overdrive works smoothly and the powerful engine provides a wonderful soundtrack. This quintessentially british six cilinder roadster is the ultimate car to enjoy on a sunny day. Either short or long trips will offer the same satisfactory driving pleasure. Even a short test drive will only confirm that this is an exceptional example.
