Description
The 1071 S is generally accepted as the best of the Cooper S, it was the first of the original Cooper S to be introduced. Made famous by the over square configuration of its engine and the famous Monte Carlo victories by Paddy Hopkirk in his 1071 S in the mid/ late sixties.
The total production volume of the 1071 was limited to 4000 cars, this was for homologation purposes. Out of this number there are probably only a handful of cars like this one to survive.
This is a totally original 1964 Austin Mini Cooper S, insomuch she retains her original shell and engine with the correct original ID tags all still in place. Its stance is certainly more appealing by the fitment more recently of a set of extremely rare Vortz alloy petal wheels.... in addition the car has original optional factory extra twin tanks and reclining seats.
Further enhancing its originality, its all matching numbers, along of course with the shell, floors, seals, engine and interior. A sympathetic restoration retaining the original character and feel of the car has been undertaken over the last few years. This is one of the best examples available you will find today and is as such featured on the Mini Cooper S Register.
