Description
Greeves 20TA frame number 8062 / TA
This Greeves was manufactured in 1957 and sold by dealer R H King of Bedford in 1958. It's road registered LSV161. A dating letter form the Greeves rider association describes a note in the factory dispatch records that reads "tuned engine, fist off line" - which suggests that this may well be the first "Scottish" produced.
At some time earlier in its life it's had a replacement 9E engine fitted with a modern piston and 31A top-end (246cc) and "Electrex" electronic ignition. It would originally have been 197cc but 246cc engines were fitted to the Scottish special and Hawkstone.
It is in presentable, if a little "shabby-chic" in places but it starts and runs well - it's currently geared for trials/ scrambles and the gearing is quite low - if it is to be used much on the road a smaller rear sprocket will be required but these are commonly available.
We bought this bike with various others two years ago - we now concentrate on classic cars and rarely sell motorcycles so the price has been reduced - it represents great value for an a factory bike that is road registered. Please call if more detail is required.
