Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this very special low mileage Mercedes-Benz CL600 V12 which has a terrific optional specification and is presented in the classic German racing colour combination. It boasts two history files which detail a wonderful service history.
The Mercedes-Benz M137 engine was a 5, 786 cc naturally aspirated, SOHC 60° V12 engine, with three valves per cylinder and 2 intakes. The architecture was similar to M112 and M113 engines and was designed to match the overall dimensions of a V8 unit with undersquare internal measurements. The crankcase was cast in a lightweight alloy with "Silitec" (silicon/ aluminium) cylinder liners to save weight. The power output was 367 PS at 5, 500 rpm, and produced a torque figure of 530 Nm at 4, 250 rpm. 0 - 60 mph was achieved in just 5. 3 secs and top speed was governed at 155 mph.
Motortrend wrote in their review, “You could argue this is the best car in the world. It is, after all, the highest offering from one of the great marques in car building today. A bit of technical trickery that does deserve special mention is Mercedes' Active Body Control (ABC). This is a true active suspension (the only one in production), that uses electrohydraulic rams in the damper units to accommodate suspension travel while directly managing body motion. The remarkable reduction of roll, dive, and squat helps make the CL feel poised, responsive, and smaller than it is.”
Sold new by Greenoaks Mercedes-Benz of Ascot in June 2002, it was customer-collected from the factory by the first keeper and has only had two more keepers since. Every MOT since 2005 is in the history file, along with the service invoices and original bill of sale. All the original handbooks and spare key are still present. A 12-month comprehensive written warranty is also included.
