Description
Here we have a very original, surviving 1979 MG Midget
This is a very original car, the only addition being the roll bar (which is easy to remove if you don't like it), and the modern radio.
Starts on the button, expertly tuned by our in-house time-served mechanic, runs extremely well.
Recently replacement parts (in the past 12 months) include:
New front calipers and pipes (and new pads)
New rear brake hose
New tank sender
New coil
New points and condensor
New plugs
New fuel pump
New radiator
New water pump
New front end re-spray
Bad points:
Dashboard could do with re-painting or replacing (quite cheap), it's previously been touched up but not very well
Bodywork is good and solid but would need further work to make it concourse
Not much is known of the history, the person I purchased from had owned the car for many years. He bought it for his brother as a gift, but after spending a lot of re-commissioning, his brother's health deteriorated and he never got to drive the car. It sat in his garage for many years unused. Mileage reads just over 12000 which with the original condition of the car, could possibly be genuine, but better to assume it's been around the clock.
If I was keeping it, I would change the mechanical fuel pump for an electric one. Modern fuel doesn't work well with mechanical fuel pumps on cars that are little used. It's a cheap and easy modification.
The car is currently SORNed but can be tested off the road as required (or bring trade plates)
