EXTERIOR
This handsome 1M presents very nicely in lustrous Sapphire Black, its dark metallic hue really accentuating the car's muscular physique. The paintwork retains a deep and uniform shine throughout with only a few minor imperfections to report, namely a dusting of light stone chips and one or two discreetly touched-in marks. The headlights are crystal clear, it’s arrow-straight along both sides, and under current ownership the wheels have been tastefully re-finished in satin Weissgold. Despite having 63k miles under its belt the condition of the car is superb, and while not entirely concours it still very much looks the part.
INTERIOR
The black leather upholstery has worn very nicely indeed. An excellent shine-free texture is retained across every surface and the seat bolsters hint at only light use. The cabin is lifted further with lashings of anthracite Alcantara on the dash, door cards, instrument binnacle, gearshift gaiter and steering wheel – all in perfect, unmarked condition and with a contrasting orange stich. There is no wear to any of the internal plastics, and in the footwells the spotless carpets are still protected by the original BMW overmats. Spec-wise this one is equipped with a number of options including heated front seats, Professional satnav, Bluetooth and USB, DAB radio, and electric folding door mirrors.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
As to be expected the engine bay is very nicely presented. The car has always been maintained at close mileage intervals and it was last serviced with new spark plugs less than 200 miles ago in January 2024. Out on the road the 1M does not disappoint. Its irresistible combination of a powerful straight six, manual transmission, and perfect 50/ 50 weight distribution have firmly cemented this rare model as one of the all-time great M cars.
HISTORY FILE
One of only 450 UK right-hand drive examples, this Sapphire Black 1M was first registered in November 2011. It has now driven 63k miles in the hands of 5 registered keepers. The accompanying History File is complete with a raft of maintenance invoices, the stamped service book (entries below), and the original M document wallet with all handbooks still present, a spare remote key, and the V5C showing 4 former keepers.
