Description
Since its debut in 1955, Alfa Romeo's Giuletta Spider has been considered as a masterpiece of Italian coachwork. In Pinin Farina’s words, the ‘signorina’ features an elegant nose that displays an array of elements drawn from the victorious 1900 as an introduction to its harmonious side silhouette. Its flowing contour meets the rear fender shoulders prior to tapering to a light and sporty tail. Powered by Giuseppe Busso’s light alloy, high-revving twin cam marvel, the Spider could sprint to 100 km/ h in 12 secs on its way to a top speed of 165 km/ h through 4 synchronized gears and back to standstill via hydraulic drums. In 1959 the Spider was revised to offer a 2-inch longer wheelbase, larger door openings, stronger camshafts & crankshaft, a redesigned gearbox and a lid-covered glovebox. Referred to as Tipo 101. 03, the revised Giuletta Spider remained in production till 1961 to a total of 14300 examples of which only a few survive to this day.
The Giuletta Spider 101. 03 offered was according to Fusi records produced mid 1961 for the US market in most silhouette enhancing Alfa Nero over Rosso leather interior. Decades later it was sourced in the US to be imported in Europe as part of a private collection in Athens. Cosmetically restored and most recently serviced to exceptional standards by classic Italian exotic experts Autocorse, the Giulietta Spider is fully prepared to be displayed at marque events or simply enjoyed through open air motoring.
