Presented in the desirable colour combination of light metallic blue coachwork with a recent black leather interior, this lovely example was delivered new in the UK and spent time in Hong Kong where it was restored and subject to a top-end engine rebuild, new gearbox etc and extensive detailing.
It was owned by a Mercedes aficionado who has restored many Mercedes classic models, he spent the last 23 years dedicating his time in bringing the car up to its current condition. As a result, it won a Concours event in Hong Kong in 2002 in the Hong Kong Concours D’Elegance voted ‘Best Convertible’.
It was brought back to the UK in 2003 and received more extensive work to further enhance it and was subsequently successful in the 2006 Mercedes Benz Club SL Day as runner-up and the 2006 Ragley Hall Concours class winner with trophies to show for all three events.
The car has a huge service file with invoices for over circa £50 k and has had previous work with specialists such as John Haynes but more importantly, it received the total attention of a devoted Mercedes enthusiast in an effort to achieve the best example possible.
There is a current insurance valuation from the Mercedes Owners Club for £190, 000.
Too good to be missed.
