Description
Porsche 911 Junior
Rare collector’s item!
In 1984, Porsche gave the go ahead for the manufacture of around 224 of these miniature models of the 911 G series with the type name 911 jr. The car is a fairly accurate replica in a 1:2 ratio, with details that look like those of its working prototype. The factory sold cars around the world mainly to Porsche importers.
This individual has production number 115 and was sold new here in Finland, apparently it was on display at a sports car dealership.
It is built with a steel frame and fiberglass inner and outer shell.
Suspension consists of coil springs at each corner.
Braking system has mechanical disc brakes at the rear. The brakes work not only with the foot brake but also with the lockable handbrake handle.
Engine is Honda's 2. 5 horsepower 110 cc four-stroke engine.
Manual transmission has a mechanical clutch, two forward gears and a reverse gear.
Top speed is approx. 30 km/ h.
There is a small battery for electrical devices, which must be charged separately. Power is needed for the horn, driving, rear and brake lights and turn signals.
The fiberglass-framed and upholstered seats are adjustable on rails to get the right driving position. Floor is protected by an original shaped rubber mat with the Porsche logo.
It has been actively used by children aged 6-12 for a year and has now been restored as best as possible to its original condition. It is difficult to estimate the mileage, but all the tires are original and have a lot of tread left.
It has no repaired crash damage, no welding or fiberglass patches. Some broken parts have been replaced with accessory parts: headlights, turn signal and light switch, turn signal relay, side mirror, accordion rubbers for the gear stick and handbrake and the tailgate opening button.
The mentioned broken parts occurred whilst it was in the showroom of the car dealership, not whilst being driven.
The glasses of the side indicators and the ends of the rear bumper have been made as 3D prints, and one original of both has survived as models of replacement parts.
It was taped over with high-quality tape intended for car taping. In the winter pictures, the car is in its original colour before taping. The car is technically in perfect condition, ready to drive.
Similar cars are sought-after rarities in Central Europe, but it would be great if the car could remain in Finnish ownership. Although the car is a collector's rarity, it is also a useful item and can be easily repaired if the need arises.
