The FW18 F1 Car is one of the most successful F1 Cars built. Between drivers Damon Hill and Jacques Villeneuve they won 12 out of 16 races in 1996. This car is the Ex Jacques Villeneuve 3 x race winning car that was used by Jacques as his race car during the second half of the season. Designed by Patrick Head and Adrian Newey it was immensely successful and impressively reliable. Race history as follows:
3 x Race Wins
2 x Pole Positions
2 x 2nd Places
1 x 3rd Place
Chassis 3 offered here was first used in the French Grand Prix, JV finished 2nd, beaten only by his team-mate Hill, two weeks later at Silverstone Villeneuve won his second GP of the year, and started his resurgence in the Championship. With another win at the Hungarian GP in this car, and a famous overtake of Michael Schumacher around the outside of the last corner at Estoril for the Portuguese GP saw Villeneuve score another win in this car to ensure the championship battle went to the final race at Suzuka. Despite qualifying on Pole Position a wheel failure put paid to his Championship chances and Hill duly took the race win and the World Championship.
From 8 races this car had an impressive strike rate and only failed to finish off the podium twice.
Retained by Williams until selling to a well-known collector a few years ago, the car has only been looked after by Williams F1, the car is offered in running condition and is currently nearing completion of a comprehensive rebuild by Williams Heritage which has included rebuilding the Renault V10 engine.
Offered freshly rebuilt with running equipment and newly made spare wheels, this FW18 is one of the most successful F1 cars out of captivity and offers exhilarating performance and V10 noise from its Renault engine that is capable of 16, 000rpm.
