EXTERIOR
This 2002 S8 looks fantastic in pearlescent Ebony Black. The paintwork presents to an excellent standard all round with a deep shine and only a handful of minor blemishes to report – our studio photos really don’t do it justice. In line with the mileage there is a dusting of light frontal stone chips and a few marks underneath the front bumper further evidencing the car’s honesty. The lights are clear all round and there is no damage to any of the brightwork or grilles. It’s finished off very nicely with attractive 20-inch wheels that have just been professionally refurbished at the current mileage.
INTERIOR
The sports seats still provide excellent comfort, feeling as soft and supportive as ever. The maple wood inlays are a nice complement, shining like new with no fading or cracks to report. The black leather upholstery is very well presented with a lovely matte sheen, and even commonly worn areas such as the driver’s bolster and steering wheel hint at only light use. All the electrics work as they should, and the switchgear remains feeling reassuringly solid to operate.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The venerable 4. 2-litre FSI powerplant starts first turn of the key, idles without fuss, and effortlessly picks up to cruising speed. Provoke the accelerator further and the tuned V8 really hauls the car forward, pulling through the gears smoothly with an intoxicating soundtrack to match.
The engine bay presents to a very high standard with no signs of any damage or previous poor repair. The last service was only recently carried out in December 2023 at 104, 715 miles. On arrival with us the car was fully inspected by our trusted classic car workshop who have subsequently replaced both rear differential output oil seals. The front diff output seals were replaced in March 2023, and the automatic gearbox was also serviced at this time. Prior to this, in January 2023, the timing belt and water pump were replaced.
HISTORY FILE
First registered in April 2002 this fantastic S8 has now driven 105k miles from new. Within the accompanying paperwork you’ll find the original Audi document pack with all owner’s manuals, a raft of maintenance invoices, MOT certificates, and the fully stamped service booklet (entries detailed below). The first three services were carried out by Audi and then from 2008 to 2021 the car was looked after by one marque specialist workshop. The timing belt was last changed in 2023 at 97, 513 miles and the most recent service was completed in December only a few hundred miles ago.
