This well-cared-for and largely original example was delivered to its first owner in the United States on 31st July 1989 by Porsche Cars North America, Smyrna, Georgia. It was then exported to Germany, where it was registered on 5th April 1991. After spending most of its life there, it came to the UK in 2018 where it is now described as a most prized possession by its current owner where it resides with other 996, 997, 991 & 992 GT3 RS, GT2 RS & Rare Sport Classic Models.
The documented history shows a Speedometer change (to display km) carried out by the Porsche Centre, Hanover when it had covered 17, 770 miles. The current reading with the new meter shows 26, 910 km (16, 721 miles) so we understand the total mileage to be 34, 491 miles

INTERIOR
The original, well cared for interior presents in superb order with minimal signs of wear, and with a natural patina to the leather lowered sports bucket seats. As with all Speedsters, the rear seats have been replaced with a storage area to stow the foldable roof – the carpeting here is still showroom fresh – and the roof itself would appear to have seen very little use.
Factory-fitted interior options include:
018 Sports Steering wheel with elevated hub 30mm
158 Blaupunkt Radio RENO SWR 46
243 Short shift gear lever
419 Rear luggage compartment
454 Automatic speed control
533 Anti-theft device
559 Air conditioning
975 Velour carpet lined Luggage compartment
EXTERIOR
Meticulously well looked after, the galvanized body has a stunning visual appearance and is in overall excellent condition. The aggressive, squat stance of this wide body example is accentuated by the windscreen sitting 3 inches lower and angled further back than the standard cabriolet.
The vehicle will be fully detailed and ceramic coated prior to sale (images are pre-detail)
PORSCHE 911 SPEEDSTER MODEL HISTORY
Initially shown in September 1987 at the Frankfurt Motorshow, it was 16 months later when the Porsche 911 Carrera Speedster’s single year of production began in January 1989. Sharing many design attributes with the original iconic 356 Speedster, it marked the 911’s 25-year anniversary and celebrated the end of the first generation of air-cooled production.
Available as a narrow or Turbo look wide body, the 2-seat Speedster is recognised principally by its unique aluminium framed cut-down, raked-back windscreen and fibreglass double-bubble rear tonneau cover. The aggressive look of the wide body versions was completed with 16-inch Fuchs alloy wheels taken over from the 930 Turbo.
Power was delivered courtesy of the proven 3. 2 litre flat 6 developing a healthy 231 bhp at 5900 rpm, and was fed through the five-speed manual Getrag G50 transaxle. Ventilated, cross-drilled disc brakes with alloy calipers were standard on all 4 wheels. The performance was sharpened over the standard cabriolet with weight savings made by utilising a lightweight foldaway roof, removing the rear seats, and fitting conventional wind-up windows and a manual heater.
All in all, the 911 Speedster proved to be a great package. With a low centre of gravity and wider track, it was extremely agile – and with sports seats mounted 20mm lower, sharp steering, great brakes and the legendary engine, it was great fun too. Today it is considered one of the most sorted, well-built and durable air-cooled 911s ever made, and owing to the low limited production number of only 2065 units in 1989, exceptionally collectible too.
