Description
An original Dutch TVR Chimaera, delivered by NIMAG and with only two owners in all those 27 years: quite a rarity. We are now offering this blue, apologies, Starfire Blue Chimaera 4. 0 in a formidable condition, with a complete maintenance history and a suitcase full of documentation.
TVR introduced the Chimaera in 1992, a new two-seater roadster named after Chimera, a figure from Greek mythology created by combining different animals. Quite fitting for the roadster, which used the chassis of the more compact Griffith as its base. Under the hood, a derivative of the well-known Rover V8 engine.
In this case, we are dealing with a truly fantastic 4. 0 Chimaera from 1996. The original version, with mesh grille at the front. The car was ordered new from NIMAG, a well-known name for anyone who has been into cars like these for a long time. The first owner visited the factory after placing the order, and the photos he took there are present with the car. Very special. What followed was an easy life for the TVR. The maintenance was carried out neatly and recorded in the original booklets, making the documentation a fine timeline of the history of this car.
Due to the low mileage of less than 75, 000 kilometers, we are dealing with a body that is incredibly beautiful. The deep gloss of the blue paint is still present, and damages are foreign to this English sports car. The car stands on its original alloy wheels, and these, like the windows and lighting components, are in pristine condition as well.
The interior of the TVR is just as beautiful: gorgeous black leather upholstery in excellent condition and dark blue carpets that are completely undamaged. The dashboard, with many wooden inlays and the cream-coloured gauges, are all in a state best described as ‘excellent’. The entire car radiates that it has only been in the hands of enthusiasts. The first owner had it from 1996 until 2013, the second owner since then.
Mechanically, there is truly nothing to fault with this TVR, it is truly in impeccable condition. The 4-liter V8 produces over 240 hp, making it an absolute delight to be on the road with this car. Due to its low weight, the steering characteristics might even be better than the breathtaking acceleration.
The car comes with a large case of documentation. A substantial stack of magazines with Chimaera tests, the original books, photos from the factory visit, invoices, and more. The condition of the car combined with the completeness of its history and documentation makes this one of the finest Chimaeras we have ever seen.
