EXTERIOR
Finished in popular Le Mans Blue metallic this facelift M5 presents in excellent overall condition. After a machine polish by our in-house detailer the paintwork shows a lovely deep shine with no off-colour panels or signs of previous poor repair. There are very few stone chips to report at the front end and the bumpers are free from any unsightly scuffs or scrapes. She’s arrow-straight along both sides and the plastic rubbing strips still look fresh all round. A couple of blisters have started to appear around the boot area and on some of the Shadowline trim, but little to detract from the car’s otherwise highly impressive appearance. Crystal-clear headlights and 18-inch wheels in the correct shadow-chrome finish complete the look.
INTERIOR
The fully electric sports seats remain in particularly fine condition, including commonly worn areas such as the driver’s bolster which in this case hints at only very light use. Soft Nappa leather extends along the centre console and to the gear knob which also presents really well and with no delamination to the M badge. A great texture remains on the steering wheel and there are no marks on the buttons or centre trim. Having always been protected by genuine BMW overmats the footwell carpets are spotless, and at the rear of the car the seats are immaculate. A highly original interior in truly mileage-defying condition – even the factory-spec’d Motorola flip phone remains in place.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The engine bay is also very clean and original. Reading through the accompanying history file the car has always been maintained to a very high standard, with full BMW service history up until 2020 when the servicing was then taken care of by independent specialists. There are 13 stamps in the original maintenance booklet including the all-important running-in check at 1, 216 miles. The last service was carried out only 350 miles ago in January 2023.
HISTORY FILE
This cracking E39 M5 in attractive Le Mans Blue was first registered in June 2001. It has now driven 92, 560 miles in the hands of only five registered keepers. The original leather document wallet and handbooks are all retained along with two spare remote keys, a thick raft of invoices and documents, numerous MOT certificates, and the service book with 13 main dealer/ specialist stamps (detailed below).
