EXTERIOR
Having resided on Japan's unsalted roads from new until 2022 when it was imported into the UK, this attractive 4-litre ‘TJ’ remains in excellent rust-free condition throughout, including the underside. Being a Sahara Edition it comes equipped with body-coloured wheel arch flares for a sleeker, more modern look while still retaining that classic Jeep aesthetic. The black paintwork presents to a great standard all round with only a few minor paint imperfections and blemishes to report on close inspection. This example further benefits from a removable hardtop which is also very well presented.
INTERIOR
The simple Jeep interior presents in excellent original condition. The grey/ black cloth seats all remain in superb order with no marking or signs of heavy use. The dash, fascia, and centre console also retain a fresh appearance with no discolouration from the sun, and even the original CD head unit is still present although a modern Pioneer system is currently fitted (not pictured). Another nice touch is the leather-trimmed steering wheel equipped with cruise control.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The 4-litre straight-six starts up first turn of the key and idles smoothly up to temperature. The engine bay is very clean and tidy, not overly dressed but in excellent original condition with no signs of any rust, damage or previous poor repair. The car additionally boasts a comprehensive service history with 10 service records accompanying the original maintenance booklet. The last service was carried out in April 2022 at 59, 522 miles.
Equipped with the upgraded heavy-duty Dana 44 rear axle, the mechanics and 4x4 system of the car all work as they should. The automatic ‘box is surprisingly smooth and handles the engine's power perfectly through the gears.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The Wrangler sits on the correct and original 15-inch Ecco alloys, all in excellent condition with no unsightly curb marking to report. All 5 wheels are shod in recently fitted General Grabber AT3 tyres (not pictured) that have seen little use. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, stopping the Jeep quickly and in a straight line.
