The sales figures of the Giulietta range immediately reach significant values: from the 12 units built in 1954, they pass to 1, 415 in 1955 and to 1, 855 in 1956.
In 1956, in any case, the normal Sprint was joined by the Veloce version which stands out for several lightening - including the sliding glass doors in Plexiglas which also allow the elimination of the traditional window regulators and which are the distinctive element aesthetic aspect of this version, and also for the absence of the chromed hub caps on the wheels - and for an increase in power and performance: with the adoption of a fuel system with 2 horizontal double body Weber carburettors, the compression ratio at 9:1 the horsepower rises to 90 and the speed to 180 km/ h. The sale price of the "Sprint Veloce" is set at 2, 250, 000 Lire. The Sprint Veloce was successfully involved in competitions, especially in the Mille Miglia where, in the 1956 edition, it conquered the first three places in the category, to the detriment of the Porsche 356, equipped with larger-capacity engines. A version of the Sprint Veloce called Lusso was then also put on the price list, because it was equipped with descending crystal side windows and chromed hubcaps on the wheels.
