Description
Launched in 1966, the Maserati Mexico is one of the rarest and most beautiful cars from the Modena based brand. Its mission was to cover miles in comfort, style and speed. The speed part was ensured by the 4. 2 liter 90° quad cam V8 derived from the 5. 0 block of the 450 S racing car.
Despite having less capacity, it delivered 260 hp, on to a top speed of 240 km/ h. The engine parameters are kept in check by the panoply of Smith dials that peek out from behind the wooden steering wheel, which itself has reach adjustment!
The style was coined by the design house Vignale, but this Grand Tourer also hides beneath its low waistline and wide chrome grill technological solutions quite advanced for the time. Behind the gorgeous 15-inch Borrani wheels is a hydraulically assisted braking system and ventilated discs.
Luxury and comfort prevail aboard the Mexico in order to please the brand's demanding customers. The dashboard and doors are finished in Mahogany wood, which contrasts beautifully with the chrome trim and black Connolly leather on the seats and console. And, to maximize comfort, it has luxury equipment for 1967: Optional air conditioning; electric windows; and a Becker Mexico stereo.
This Mexico is a rare example of the 485 manufactured. It was sold new in Italy and acquired from the renowned Cristiano Luzzago, in Brescia, in 2020. It has a period Portuguese license plate, Maserati Classiche certificate and is recognized as a vehicle of historical interest by the Portugal Automobile Club.
This is undoubtedly an excellent investment. A car in superb condition and very usable, for those who want to share the passion for classics with their family.
