EXTERIOR
Resplendent in rare Moonraker Black Metallic the Griffith’s sleek body presents in stunning original condition. Following a machine polish by our in-house detailer the sparkling paintwork retains a great depth of shine and, aside from the usual dusting of light frontal stone chips, there are very few blemishes to report – our studio photographs really don’t do the car justice. The complementing black mohair roof is also perfect with no marks to the carbon fibre centre panel or damage to the folding rear screen. The car has always been carefully stored to preserve its amazing condition, and it shows. The underside is remarkably clean too and has just been inspected with no corrosion issues to report.
INTERIOR
The beautifully crafted interior is well appointed in supple black hide that extends from the seats to the doors and dashboard, along the transmission tunnel and into the rear. All the leather is in exceptional order and even commonly worn areas such as the driver’s bolster are very much unworn. The burr walnut fascia presents beautifully and the steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake lever are also exceptional. In addition to the factory-upgraded hide upholstery the car was further spec’d with premium wool carpets, which again are spotless throughout. At the rear of the car the boot area is immaculately clean with a handy maintenance charger pre-wired to the battery.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The Griffith 500 is equipped with a TVR-tuned 5-litre Rover V8 that roars into life with a deep and aggressive exhaust note. With 340hp on tap and a 0-60mph time of little over 4 seconds, performance is lively to say the least. Despite its low mileage this particular example has been extremely well maintained since new and, unlike many other low mileage classic sports cars, has never been allowed to fall into disrepair. Reading through the accompanying service booklet and maintenance invoices the car has been serviced a remarkable 21 times to date, lastly in August 2022 at 11, 998 miles; this work was completed by TVR specialists, Mole Valley Specialist Cars Ltd.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The seven-spoke alloys are kerb-free and pristine throughout. They are wrapped in the correct and matching TVR-branded Toyo Proxes T1R tyres, all with 7mm of tread left. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, effortlessly bringing the car to a stop quickly and in a straight line.
HISTORY FILE
This surely unrepeatable Griffith 500 – very tastefully specified in rare black over black – was first registered in April 1998. It was originally supplied by Brooklands TVR in Exeter and has now driven only 12, 108 miles in the hands of just 3 owner (current since 2018). Here at 4 Star we are well known for selling low mileage classic and sports cars but this is without doubt the finest and most original TVR we have seen. Better still, it’s accompanied by the most amazing service record with 21 services having been carried out to date, as detailed below. The last service was completed by marque specialists, Mole Valley Specialist Cars, in August 2022 just 110 miles ago.
Within the accompanying History File the lucky new owner will find the original TVR owners handbook and service record, a price list and sales brochure from the supplying dealer, the original order form and bill of sale for £40, 895, a raft of invoices, old MOT certificates, tax discs, and the original spare key.
