Exterior:
Our particular Rolls Royce was finished in a fine shade of Black Garnet. This is a wonderful colour, with its ability to present itself as black while displaying a rich deep maroon shade under different lighting conditions. Having covered a paltry 4, 500 miles, there are little to no blemishes present on the paintwork. Only a few age related marks are present belying the age of the car. The wheels are in excellent condition, with no marks present on the chrome surface. These are shod in Michelin tyres with plenty of tread. Since its repatriation to the UK, the car has been treated to a full machine polish and ceramic coating to maintain its vitality and splendour. In our opinion, the Corniche V exudes sheer class and thuggish presence without the exuberance and the ostentatiousness associated with the RR models of new - it truly is the last of an era. Final details that finish off the exterior include the Wildberry Hood Cloth and optional Fireglow coach lines, which neatly ties the exterior to its Fireglow interior specification.
Interior:
Being a flagship Rolls Royce of its time, the Corniche V represented the last word in luxury during the early 2000s. Behind those hefty doors and below the expertly crafted walnut trim is a sanctuary of class and sheer opulence. The interior is bathed in swathes of the finest leather. We can use a variety of objectives to describe comfort of its seats, but a more apt metaphor: sitting in an old armchair, would be more appropriate. Due to the low mileage of the vehicle, they exhibit little to no wear and tear, with slight age related marks around the bolsters. Like any car from the era, the interior defines luxury in terms of its craftmanship and sheer quality with regards to the materials used, as opposed to the electronic trickery that festoons many a luxury car from the current period. The dials are neat and easy to read, with all buttons and switchgear within simple reach of the driver. This is a car which presents a very analogue driving experience, with little to no screens to take away from the enjoyment of such a car. Further enhancements that were optioned onto the vehicle include RR emblems embellished onto the Burr Wood trim, as well as a factory installed upgraded alarm system. Overall, this is a very endearing and timeless interior that will come to be appreciated when current tech from luxury cars become obsolete - it is truly an interior to be enjoyed no matter the era.
Service history and provenance
Our particular example was delivered new to the philanthropic scion of the Tang family of Hong Kong in 2000. At the time, the Corniche V was the most expensive Rolls Royce on offer - an eye watering sum of £350k had to be coughed up by buyers to be the custodian of one of the rarest Rolls Royce models ever produced. Used sparingly as evidenced by the low mileage, the car was stored in a temperature controlled garage amongst an eclectic collection of supercars. Our Hong Kong team negotiated directly with the family before coming to a deal and repatriating the car back to its country of origin. A notable detail is the presence of Main Dealer service history in Hong Kong, which is rarely seen from our decades-long experience of sourcing cars from that region of the globe. As part of our fastidious preparation procedure, we have spent approximately £15k to ensure our vehicle serves our buyer not only with luxury, but also with the confidence to bring our continent cruiser wherever they fancy. This rejuvenation was carried at marque specialists Radford Engineering, with the entire braking system restoration being carried out, as well as the replacement of suspension arms and ball joints. To further ensure the safety of our vehicle, we also had work carried out to the hydraulic steering system, which can be prone to leaking. This ensures our two-tonne barge not only stops well, but also steers well. This was finished off with a full service and MOT to make the vehicle UK compliant. Further work carried out can be seen in the documents attached below for additional peace of mind. We can confidently present our Corniche as a turn key classic car with immediate enjoyment!
Conclusion:
The sale of our wonderful Corniche presents buyers with the chance to purchase a vehicle which is surely amongst the best examples in the world. The combination of only 38 RHD examples, and that wonderful Garnet exterior makes us believe that this is a one-off example. In a world of nouveau-riche supercars and rambunctious SUVS, the purchase of our extremely rare Corniche V may seem like an unconventional choice. However, to those in the know, it is the right choice.
