EXTERIOR
Having driven only 7k miles in the hands of just one private keeper this handsome 90 Pickup remains in excellent unmodified condition. The attractive Corris Grey metallic paintwork is exceptionally well presented with only a few discreet stone chips to report, and of course it’s original all round. Looking closer, commonly faded plastic items such as the front grille, headlight surrounds, and wheel arch extensions retain an even matt black finish, and the same is true of the window rubbers. All the lights are nice and clear and the front bumper is free from any damage. The rear load area has been used as intended and so there are a few small marks and scratches but little to detract from the car’s overall highly impressive condition. All in all, a particularly smart example of the well-regarded ‘original’ Defender.
INTERIOR
In line with the mileage the utilitarian cabin presents very well. The Twill Vinyl seats are immaculate and, much like the steering wheel, gear knob and centre console, show no signs of any wear. The remainder of the interior is also in fantastic condition with other commonly worn areas such as the flooring, door cards and switchgear all in fine order, the only real negative to report here being a few minor marks around the passenger-side grab handle and storage shelf. A handy armrest/ cubby box has been fitted between the seats but the original rubber tray is also included with the sale.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Barely run-in with a mere 7, 346 miles under its belt the Defender’s 2. 2-litre diesel engine starts first turn of the key and idles smoothly up to temperature. The car has been under the same careful ownership since it was just 8 months old and, quite remarkably, it has been serviced every year. Since purchasing the car as an ex-demonstrator from Land Rover the owner has spared no expense on maintenance. It has only ever been serviced by Keith Gott Land Rover (8 times in total) and the last service was carried out in November 2022 less than 400 miles ago.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The Defender sits on its original 16-inch steel wheels finished Fuji White. They are shod in a matching set of Michelin Latitude Cross tyres with plenty of tread left. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, bringing the car to a stop quickly and in a straight line; on the last inspection just 400 miles ago it was noted that the pads were only 10% worn.
HISTORY FILE
First registered in December 2014, this superb example was originally supplied by Harwoods Land Rover in Tonbridge. It was purchased from Harwoods by the current owner with less than 600 miles on the clock, and he has had it serviced every single year since. The accompanying History File comprises the original Land Rover document wallet and owners’ manuals, every Keith Gott invoice, every MOT certificate, a Land Rover printout further verifying the vehicle’s maintenance history to date (outlined below), a spare key with remote fob, and the V5C showing only 1 former keeper.
