Description
1976 Rover SD1 pre production car, chassis no 33 and engine no 29. Owned by Leyland Service and Parts Division up to 1981 before going into private ownerships, a good deal of history included from that point up until 1995 with all MOT certificates in that period present, also during that time it had been used for TV work and features in some magazine publications.
I purchased this some 6 years ago from a chap who had good intentions to restore but ran out of time, I'm ashamed to say that is also the case here and I haven't managed much! I had running to check oil pressure when I got the car to discover a howling water pump, started the replacement but never finished. The car is complete, the interior is in fantastic condition, turmeric carpets with nutmeg upholstery.
Overall, a good starting point for a sympathetic restoration, the car is original and unmolested, and time to get back on the road for the 50th anniversary!
