The 1968 model year was one of significant change for the Buick Skylark.
Although still using the same basic chassis, all of GM's mid-sized cars adopted a policy of using two different length wheelbases. All of GM's mid-sized cars received all-new sheet metal bodies as the US government mandated for safety features which improved occupant protection and accident avoidance starting with the 1967 models. The basic Skylark was available as a two-door hardtop coupé or a four-door saloon.
The Skylark Custom came as a two-door convertible coupé, two-door hardtop coupé, four-door hardtop saloon, or four-door saloon. Optional on the Skylark and standard on the Skylark Custom was a new 350 cubic inch, V8 engine using a two barrel Rochester carburetor that produced 230hp at 4400rpm, this engine was based on the previous 300 and 340 cubic inch, V8 engines.
This rare Custom 350 Convertible is a matching nos. example and has been in the UK for 30 years . The car comes with a comprehensive history file, showing significant expenditure over the years, and has recently benefitted from many sensible modern upgrades which include the fitment of power disc brakes and more fuel efficient Holley Sniper fuel injection.
The car is in very good overall condition and drives superbly . It also comes with a fully operational mohair power hood, which was recently renewed.
It runs and performs exactly as it should and is a joy to drive.
The only issue is that the drivers seat base would benefit from a retrim . The correct material is supplied with the car.
