A Porsche 911 G model as a turbo convertible with a 5-speed gearbox and factory low-rise is a particular rarity. This constellation was so expensive that even wealthy people bit their lower lip when looking through the options list. For the premium of the low-rise option, other people bought a new Mercedes. Hardly anyone in Europe allowed themselves that. Almost all of the factory low-rise buildings that were handcrafted in the factory were exported.
With the equipment code "M 505 flat-body variant", Porsche wanted to transfer the striking appearance of the successful Porsche 935 racing car, which was technically based on the turbo, to the road version. Back then, the Porsche 935 factory cars won almost at will. For real Porsche motorsport fans, the factory low-rise building is therefore one of the most desirable 911 models of all. In addition, we were in the wild eighties, the heyday of car refinement and optical tuning. An automobile era that is just being discovered by collectors and investors, which can be seen from the increasing international auction results of such vehicles. It is important for the value development that the vehicle was demonstrably delivered from the factory and not modified by some tuner.
The Slantnose Turbo Cabriolet offered here was certified by Porsche Classic last year and matching numbers were confirmed. The Slantnose (German word is "Flachbau") is combined with air intakes in the rear fenders and wide rocker panels. The air intakes also have a practical use, the oil cooler is located behind them. Typical of Porsche's quality: not only the flat body, but also the wide rocker strips and the flared fenders are made of metal.
According to the Porsche certificate, the original client, for whom this Porsche was laid down in 1989, still had a number of Z applications. These are special requests that are not in the special equipment list. The Porsche Exclusive department was then responsible for that and they covered the console and the rotary switch for the heating control with leather, for example, as did the seat belt whips. The leather has to be scraped very thinly on the inside so that the rotary switch can still be moved freely - but not too thinly so that it does not rub off even after years of use. The elaborate manual work had its price. It is no coincidence that the department is called Porsche Exclusive.
In addition, there is the complete equipment: air conditioning, fully electrically adjustable seats, steering wheel completely in leather, electrically operated convertible top, window and exterior mirrors, the high-tech retro look radio Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB, sound system, limited slip differential, on-board tools and the original folding spare wheel with air compressor inside Porsche suitcases are just some of the highlights.
The Slantnose offered here only has 35, 229 documented original miles (56, 366 km), 11 service history records, TÜV up to 4/ 2024, H (historic) license plate and the technical certificate from Porsche Classic.
