A stunning original 1990 Land Rover 90 V8 County Petrol with only One Private Owner, previously owned by Land Rover Solihull. This rare Land Rover has only travelled 65, 600 miles from new.
The Owner was employed by Ottons Land Rover near Salisbury in Wiltshire and purchased the vehicle from a Land Rover closed auction in September 1990 after it is thought to have been a Land Rover audit vehicle from its first registration on 16. 03. 1990. The owner serviced the vehicle while working at Ottons the main Land Rover dealer in Salisbury and averaged under 3, 000 miles a year until 2013, when he was taken ill and the vehicle was laid up with approximately 65, 000 miles on the clock. The owner, whom we already knew, approached us to sell it on his behalf as we had previously carried out work on the vehicle. The Land Rover was in great condition as it had been laid up on blocks for nearly ten years and started first time with a battery and some fuel!
It was decided to keep the vehicle original, but it should be given the TLC needed to ensure it would last many years to come. The chassis was in good order, but we stripped it back and treated with rust preventer and re painted, however all original chassis numbers and markings are still visible. Any mechanical parts that needed replacement, we did so, but kept the integrity of its original condition. The exterior paintwork and interior has remained original, however we have replaced window seals and rubbers and the headlining. It past its MOT last year with flying colours and no advisories.
This is a rare vehicle in its original condition and the smooth V8 engine with twin SU Carbs sounds sweet and pulls like a V8 should. We have film footage and photos of the chassis before and after re painting. We have the original documentation, including the LR Workshop Manual, Service Bulletins, handwritten notes by the LR workshop and the original service history book.
