EXTERIOR
This SL55 is presented in distinguished Obsidian Black metallic. The bodywork remains in excellent condition with only a few minor imperfections to note on close inspection. In line with the mileage there is a dusting of light frontal stone chips but otherwise the paintwork maintains a deep, even shine following a full detail and machine polish on arrival with us. Being really picky there is a small pin dent on the top of the boot lid and a discreet hairline crack on the top edge of the rear bumper just below the offside light unit, both easily missed. The electric folding roof is in fine order, working perfectly and folding neatly away with no leaks or creaks.
INTERIOR
The lavish SL cabin is trimmed in Anthracite AMG leather adorning almost every surface. Sitting in the supportive heated and electric seats you notice the interior is rich in fine detail, from the beautiful sweeping leather-stitched dashboard to the Alcantara instrument binnacle. Contrasting silver trim adds to the elegant aesthetic, and in the footwells you’ll find genuine SL overmats protecting the spotless grey carpets. The seats present in fantastic condition with only a small amount of expected wear on the driver’s side to report. Other commonly worn areas such as the steering wheel and gear selector also appear in fine original condition.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The SL55’s supercharged 5. 4-litre V8 fires up with an intoxicating rumble and produces an impressive 476hp at 6100rpm. The smooth five-speed automatic gearbox can also be operated using paddle-shifts on the steering wheel for faster changes, helping to pull the car up to 60mph in a swift 4. 7 seconds.
The mechanics of this example have always been maintained to a high standard, and out of the 11 services the car has received, 8 of them were carried out by Mercedes main dealers. The last service was done by Mercedes-Benz of Hull in April 2022 little over 1k miles ago. Since arriving with us a full mechanical inspection has also been carried out for the new keeper’s peace of mind.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The 18-inch AMG alloy wheels have just returned from a full refurbishment to the highest standard by Lepsons; they all present in perfect condition and look especially smart with the correct diamond-cut finish. They are shod in matching Yokohama tyres with ample tread left. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, the large 8-pot AMG calipers feeling particularly powerful and responsive.
HISTORY FILE
This handsome example was first registered in June 2004. It has now driven 96k miles in the hands of 5 registered keepers, the current since 2013. The car is accompanied by an excellent maintenance record with 11 services having been carried out since new, as detailed below. The History File is complete with the original owner’s document pack and all handbooks, a raft of Mercedes and specialist invoices, the stamped service booklet, MOT certificates, a spare key, and the V5C showing only 4 former keepers. The car is currently registered on a dateless 6-digit ‘AMG’ cherished plate, which is included with the sale.
