Description
Lawbrook Classics are delighted to offer one of the most popular cars to have come out of Stuttgart, the SL. This particular 1986 example comes in a timeless colour combination as well as the sort after factory hard top.
The previous owner had kept the car for 28 years and had it off the road and dry stored for 15 of them until it was professionally recommissioned in 2020.
No Mercedes worth its salt would be seen with dodgy chrome work and this one is no exception. All that’s supposed to shine does and is in good order and seemingly intact. The wheels have been freshly refurbished so look excellent.
The cockpit of this delightful car looks like it has hardly been used, and that’s because it hasn’t. After the car was recommissioned in 2020 the car has been treated to a full re-trim which includes new leather for the seats with contrasting blue piping and blue carpeting.
The veneered dashboard is in good condition and the dash top, which does tend to crack due to sun exposure, appears to be free of such issues. The folding roof operates as it should and the fabric is in good order.
During the recommissioning in 2020 various items were replaced including the radiator, thermostat and heater control valve. The brakes have been serviced and required components replaced such as callipers, pads and handbrake shoes. The car now run's smoothly and quietly with that lovely grumble of the V8.
