EQUIPMENT
Cinnabar Red paintwork, Silver Uberkaro cloth, 5-speed dogleg manual transmission, 16-inch alloy wheels, Electric sunroof, Electric windows, Electric door mirrors, On-board computer, BMW cassette radio, Cassette storage, Front fog lights, Fire extinguisher, Alloy spare wheel, BMW toolkit.
EXTERIOR
This has to be one of the cleanest, most original E30 M3s we’ve ever had the pleasure of selling here at 4 Star. Beautifully finished in sublime Cinnabar Red – surely one of the best M3 colours – the rich paintwork remains in simply stunning condition all round. Even on close inspection there are very few blemishes to speak of, the only real imperfections to report being some expected light chips towards the front end. The remainder of the body is factory-fresh with even panel gaps, pristine rubber trims, immaculate badging, and absolutely no corrosion in any of the common E30 weak spots. A true collector’s piece, in outstanding show condition.
INTERIOR
Open the door and you’re still greeted by that new car smell. Original interiors of this age and in this condition do not come around often. The bolsters show no signs of any wear, the stunning pale Uberkaro cloth appearing almost as new throughout. Glancing across the driver-focused dash you’ll find a superb finish to every component. Everything feels reassuringly solid to operate, and everything works just as it should. Commonly worn items like the steering wheel and gear knob retain a great finish with only a few light marks to note, and the carpets are still protected in the footwells by the original tailored overmats. The boot area is extremely clean and still present with the complete BMW toolkit and alloy spare wheel.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
The E30 M3’s S14 engine was designed for racing applications and was, therefore, compact and high-revving. Special features included individual throttle plates for each cylinder, machined intake and exhaust ports, and a crankshaft with eight counterweights. The engine bay of this example – an EU-spec non-cat 200ps car – is exceptionally clean throughout, it looks like new! Everything appears factory-fresh with no signs of any corrosion, damage, or wear to report. All in all, a real treat for the enthusiast.
The current owner purchased the car way back in 2001 and has cherished it ever since. Reading through accompanying the history file it’s clear that this one has always been maintained to the highest standard and, aside from one service carried out in 2000 by an independent BMW specialist, it always been serviced within of the BMW main dealer network! Out on the road it’s as tight as a drum to drive; the engine is as smooth as ever and the dogleg ‘box really is a joy to operate.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The M3 sits on a perfect, unmarked set of 16-inch cross-spoke alloy wheels, as fitted brand new at BMW in 2016. Fresh Yokohama rubber was fitted all round at the same time, the tyres having seen little over 2k miles of use since then. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition, effortlessly bringing the car to a stop quickly and in a straight line.
HISTORY FILE
This surely unrepeatable example in rare Cinnabar Red was first registered in June 1989. An EU-spec non-cat 200ps car, it was originally supplied in Munich, Germany, and has now driven only 74, 881 miles (120, 510km) from new. It remained in Germany before being brought into the UK in 1999 where it has lived a sheltered life under the same fastidious ownership since 2001. Aside from one service carried out by a specialist in 2000 the car has, quite amazingly, only ever been serviced within the BMW main dealer network (including its time in Germany). The last service was carried out at Harry Fairbairn BMW in February 2022.
Within the History File the lucky new owner will be presented with the complete and original BMW document wallet with all owner’s manuals, exactly as it was supplied to the first keeper. The original service booklet is of course on hand and is stamped up to date with the entries detailed below. Every UK MOT certificate is present, further verifying the car’s low mileage, the remainder of the paperwork comprising a thick raft of BMW invoices meticulously detailing all the work that has been carried out since its arrival in the UK.
