Fantastic example of a nostalgic Ford Anglia. Runs and drives great and both mechanically as optically in good condition. The first generation of the Ford Anglia, the E04A, was released in 1939 as Ford's smallest model in the UK. The two-door Anglia was similar to the larger four-door Ford Prefect. The car was actually a facelift of its predecessor, the Ford 7Y. Examples for the British market were powered by a 933 cc inline four-cylinder petrol engine with side valves, mated to a three-speed manual transmission. An 1172 cc engine was used for some export markets. The suspension consisted of leaf springs front and rear, the brakes were mechanical. From 1940 to 1945, the E04A was also built in Australia as a tourer (with rear seats) and as a two-seater roadster. Production was stopped in 1948 after 55, 807 units had been built. The second generation of 1949, code E494A, was a makeover of the previous model with a front that was more in the style of the 1940s with its angled upright radiator grille. It was again a very spartan vehicle . When production of the E494A Anglia ended in 1953 after 108, 878 units, the model was sold until 1959 as the extremely simple 103E Ford Popular.
