1956 Jaguar XK140 DHC - Finished in Maroon
Here we have For Sale a Jaguar - XK140 - Drophead Coupe - Restored to its original condition.
One previous owner whom owned the car from when the car was first registered and then the current owner aquired the car a few years ago.
This Beautiful X140 comes complete with an extensive history file & Original buff Logbook.
On the 1st of September 1972 the car had be purchased and had been repainted Blue instead of the original colour Marron which the owner set about taking the car back to a bare metal bodyshell over a nine month period.
October 1973 the body was then totally removed from the chassis and taken to a local garage whereby a complete mechanical strip down commenced. The chassis was shot blast and repainted in December 1973.
The Gearbox was completely rebuilt and mechanical works. In the Mid 1980's the car was ready for its first coat of paint.
After the completion of these works the car stood for another 5 years, it was time to start again so in June 1985 it was transported to the paint shop. After undergoing 6 coats of paint in July 1985, the car would be left stood for another 4 years, it was time to start again. Alight coat of colour and what we term a flat down the car was now ready for the real painting to commence.
With the car now completely painted and given the years that had passed no attention detail was to be overlooked so the owner decided it was a good idea to take the engine out once again and vigorously check it over and make any adjustments where necessary. In September 1989 the engine was reinstalled.
In October 1989 the car arrived home and thus the task of building her back up again.
2nd December 1989 the car went to the trimmers and no expense spared on the beautiful hide leather beige trim which it retains today. The trimming work took six weeks plus.
Rear seats, new trim and aluminium side panels fitted. (All documented in the history file with photographs) New Headlining (Double Duck Hood) "Sheer Perfection" as one of the photographs is titled.
The upholstery was finished in January 1990.
On the 18th of May 1991 @ 8. 20pm the car was finally finished after 18 years and 9 months, 18 days, 20 hours and 20 minutes...
It won "Best Sportscar" at a local competition in which I am sure you can imagine the sheer delight of the first owner.
The car has been meticulously cared for all its life no expense spared and our Sister Company M&C WILKINSON LIMITED have assisted with its servicing and preservation needs whilst in the care of its current owner.
