Opel did not offer the Rekord A as a convertible. Nevertheless, this wish for a 2-door and very chic convertible could be fulfilled. Two coachbuilders specialized in converting the 2-door Rekord A Coupé base, which was then converted into a chic convertible by the Deutsch GmbH company in Cologne-Braunsfeld or the Autenrieth company in Darmstadt.
According to unconfirmed estimates, no more than 30 vehicles of the Opel Rekord, a German convertible model, were made.
At that time, a large amount of German marks was already required for the conversion of the convertible (estimated at DM 10, 000), because this conversion (including reinforcement of the bottom plate) was carried out entirely by hand. So it was not nearly enough to simply remove the coupe roof or schedule the paintwork that would be needed later. In 1971, Karl Deutsch Porzellanbau GmbH closed its doors. The Autenrieth company from Darmstadt stopped producing convertible bodies as early as 1964.
This car has been extensively restored for many years and is in great condition. The interior in leather. A super rare car, there is only 1 convertible as a 6 cylinder!
