Description
First registered on 1st August 1986, the stunning 300SL is finished in Thistle Green (881) with wonderful Fir Green Leather (276). It was supplied by G C Whittaker, Mercedes-Benz dealers of Doncaster, to the company Ingram, Hawkins and Nock Ltd of Stourbridge, West Midlands. Mr Ingrams retained this car until November 2010, a total of 24 years. In his tenure he had the car regularly serviced and the very comprehensive history file includes the full book pack with stamped service book, a near complete set of MOT certificates, a large collection of service invoices mainly from Stillmans, the Mercedes dealers in Stourbridge and even old tax discs.
In November 2010 the car passed into the ownership of Mr Eric Carlyle of Biggar, Scotland and he continued the very careful maintenance. In fact we can see from invoices that he took the car South to the SL Shop, a good distance for a service! Again, the wonderful history file has all the service invoices and MOT certificates which back up the low mileage. Sadly Mr Carlyle passed away and after being briefly kept by his widow, the car has now come South.
Today the mileage is 57, 600 and this wonderful car in the rare and stunning colour combination remains in quite fabulous condition. The book pack is in mint condition, the original toolkit is there, the First Aid box unopened, a full key set with the unused fob from the supplying dealer, C. G. Whitaker. However the really stunning park is the leather interior which is coloured MB 276 Fir Green together with dark green carpet, set off by unmarked wood veneer. Also notable is the original Black soft top and naturally the hardtop is also Thistle Green to match the body.
