EXTERIOR
No frills, no fuss. The C43 estate is a real Q-car, with the subtle AMG styling pack a mere nod to the car’s enhanced performance. The striking monoblock rims are superb complement to the Brilliant Silver paintwork, which retains a clean appearance throughout. There are a few expected stone chips to the leading edge of the bonnet and bumper, with only a couple of light cosmetic blemishes elsewhere to note on very close inspection, but certainly nothing to detract from the car’s overall impressive finish.
INTERIOR
The quality Mercedes-Benz interior presents like it’s seen half the mileage. The elegant silver and black leather is an AMG exclusive, and looks especially smart against the carbon fibre effect trim. The upholstery is in first-rate condition, with only the lightest of wear to the steering wheel and driver’s bolster as evidence of use; all other seats remain in perfect order. The dash and switchgear are also in excellent unmarked condition and in the footwells the carpets are protected by an unworn set of Mercedes mats. The boot area is also really tidy and is still equipped with the retractable load cover. All in all, a fantastic, well specified and highly original interior space, the only upgrade over standard being an attractive Blaupunkt CD player with USB connectivity.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION
Lifting the bonnet reveals a clean and tidy engine bay free of any accident damage or signs of poor repair. There is no corrosion to any of the inner panels and all plastics still retain a fresh appearance. The car is accompanied by a great maintenance history with 12 services recorded on file, 9 of which were carried out by Mercedes-Benz main agents. The last service was done in July 2021 at 79, 281 miles and included a full vehicle check over.
WHEELS, TYRES AND BRAKES
The C43 sits on 17-inch AMG alloys, all in perfect condition having previously been refurbished to the highest standard by Lepsons. They are finished in the correct silver paint with striking diamond cut rims and unmarked centre caps. The wheels are shod in a matching set of Pirelli PZero tyres with at least 7mm of tread remaining at each corner. The brakes have also been checked and remain in fine operational condition.
HISTORY FILE
This rare C43 estate was first registered in June 1999. It has now driven 79k miles in the hands of just 5 registered keepers. The history file is complete with the dealer-supplied document pack and all relevant handbooks. The service booklet is stamped with 12 entries at the following mileages: 12, 485 – 22, 060 – 31, 625 – 37, 256 – 45, 357 – 52, 398 – 58, 935 – 65, 460 – 70, 260 – 77, 947 – 78, 815 – and most recently at 79, 281 miles in July 2021. A fantastic example overall and a car we know well having sold it to the current owner back in 2017.
A total of just 3, 085 C43 AMGs were produced for worldwide distribution, with a mere 406 coming to the UK. Of this already low figure it is believed that just 140 of those were estate cars.
