Description
- Fantastically beautiful body shape - Completely restored in Germany - Technically optimised for demanding rallies Description: The Lagonda Motor Company - Lagonda Ltd. from 1913 - was founded by the US-born Wilbur Adams Gunn (1859-1920), who emigrated to Great Britain at the end of the 19th century. W. O. Bentley, who is today regarded as the greatest engineer in British automotive engineering, headed the design office of Lagonda Ltd from 1935 to 1940. The LG 45 Rapide designed by Frank Feeley is considered by many connoisseurs to be the most exciting of all Lagondas. At the end of 1936, Lagonda presented the Rapide, which was regarded as the fastest road-going sports car at the time. It enabled the company to catch up with the great designs of Alfa Romeo and Bugatti. Feeley's ingenious design still impresses even after more than 80 years! This vehicle is an example that was delivered in 1936 with a short chassis and pillarless saloon body. The car was completely restored a few years ago by the Zimmerly company in Königsbrunn and the body was converted to Rapide Tourer Spec. by Rod Jolley. The entire technology and electrics etc. were optimised for use in historic long-distance rallies. The vehicle took part in the legendary Tulplen Rally (16-22 April 1950). The original registration (log book) from 1936 and the FIVA pass are available. Production: Only 25 Lagonda LG 45s were produced as Rapides between 1936 and 1938.
