1964 Gordon Keeble GK1
3 owners since new
Full restoration by Ernie Knott
Quite remarkable that a vehicle such as this Gordon Keeble could have enjoyed only 3 family owners since new in 1964
The first owner kept her for only 2 years and the second owner, a Mechanical Engineer for ICI, kept her until his death, at which point his son kept her until 2014 when the third owner took over the reins
There is an enormous history folder, for the Mechanical Engineer was more than keen to keep meticulous records at all times - for instance there is a little booklet full of mileages and fuel supplies covering his entire ownership period - as well as copious correspondence to Ernie Knott, the Gordon Keeble guru, from when a full restoration was undertaken in the 1990's
Makes for fascinating reading............
A few upgrades were incorporated such as the rear window vents to ease rear window misting and the reversing lights fitted adjacent to the exhaust exits below the bumper
Little mileage has been covered since this time although the last owner naturally has undertaken any necessary repairs, with the most recent service in March this year
Finished in a very pretty colour combination and the interior is just one of the best we have come across
The engine fires up instantly and simply purrs, with the typical Corvette burble whilst the top loader 4 speed gearbox is a delight with strong purposeful shifts at your finger tips
The GK's suspension is supple yet firm and soaks up most road imperfections in town, whilst high speed cornering out of town is inspirational as the race car setup truly comes into its' own
The lines of the GK are most graceful, and no wonder, as the work is none other than that of Giorgette Giuggiaro from Bertone
This, the chassis setup and the high specification for the user would have justified the enormous expense when new, electric windows, dual circuit brakes, alloy wheels, twin headlights, full instrumentation and et all
Even in today's world the GK oozes style with a capital S and seems extra good value against period alternatives like Aston DB4's and the like
Much rarer too
