THE APPEAL
Introduced at the 2003 IAA Frankfurt Motor Show, the BMW E63 6-Series was the third BMW to exhibit Chris Bangle’s controversial flame-sided styling language.
With slab sides and a high boot line, the 6-Series was offered as both a Coupé and a Convertible, developed off the platform of the E60 5-Series, but with a shorter chassis and wheelbase.
It may have been controversial at first, but the styling of the big BMW has aged exceptionally well. And today, it has the look of a car that still looks contemporary despite being almost two decades old.
It's a great car to drive, too. With very similar handling to the fantastic 5-Series and a range of high-performance engines, there was never a dull E63 to drive.
This one is the baby of the range – the 630Ci – but with 264bhp it’s hardly a slouch. 0-60mph takes just six seconds, with the top speed limited to 155mph. Plus, this is the most desirable cabriolet model.

SUMMARY
Make no mistake, this is a lovely example of BMW’s modern classic grand tourer with a provenance and mileage that make it really stand out – there aren’t many 16-year-old BMWs that have covered just 42,000 miles, and certainly not many that are as striking to look at as this one.
The classy and elegant 6-Series represents astonishing value and this one is a massively appealing proposition, thanks not only to its overall condition, but also the promise of affordable running costs compared with the thirstier V8 models.
