NO RESERVE - 2004 Jaguar XJ6 3.0 V6 (X350)

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Lots of history
  • Well-maintained with proof
  • Low mileage

THE APPEAL

The alloy-bodied ‘X350’ generation of XJ6 marked a sea-change for Jaguar when it debuted at the 2002 Paris Motor Show. Strikingly handsome, huge and imposing, it was nevertheless lighter and more frugal than the smaller S-TYPE.
It’s a car that’s rapidly gathering interest in classic circles as it approaches its 20th birthday, with the best examples now finding their way into the hands of collectors.

This one must be one of the best – owned by one family from new, it has covered a genuine 68,000 miles and has a well-stacked history file. It’s lovely…

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

  • Original service books and handbook
  • Jaguar service wallet
  • Service book stamped to 40,584 miles with invoices thereafter
  • Original PDI sheet
  • X350 ‘Quick Guide’
  • All previous MOTs
  • UK V5C

The XJ6 was supplied new by Paramount Jaguar in Derby in June 2004 – first registered on the cherished plate FNL 78 - and went back there for servicing for the first three years of its life. After that, the car was maintained by the owner’s local garage, which was conveniently a Jaguar marque specialist.

There are piles of invoices covering the cars maintenance for dates after the service book was stamped.
It was owned by its first owner from new until his death in 2013, whereupon a letter included with the car states that it was left in his will to a family member who owned it until earlier this year.

The car was registered later in its life to the family business but there is one consistent surname in its history file.

THE INTERIOR

  • Biscuit leather trim
  • Superb order with minimal wear
  • Birds-eye maple veneers
  • Comprehensive equipment levels

The XJ6 may have been the ‘base’ X350 but the equipment levels were still impressive – electrically adjustable seats, climate control, automatic transmission. It’s all there and the cabin is ridiculously comfortable.

Everything works, and aside from some minor stains on the driver’s seat, which should clean out, it’s in wonderful order.

THE EXTERIOR

  • Excellent condition with no damage
  • Original order
  • Unmarked alloys
  • Front and rear parking sensors

The Jaguar still looks fabulous in its original paint, which wears its 18 years fabulously well and still retains a deep and lustrous shine. There are no dents or obvious damage, nor is there any alloy reaction in the paint, which is common on these cars.
All of the trim is present and correct the tyres are in good condition and there’s no kerbing to any of the alloy wheels.

THE MECHANICS

  • 3.0-litre V6
  • Six-speed auto transmission
  • Well-maintained

Under the bonnet you’ll find Jaguar’s 240bhp 3.0 V6, as also found in the X-TYPE and S-TYPE saloons. It’s no slouch, either. In the big XJ it delivers 0-60 mph in 7.4 seconds, yet thanks to that alloy body it’ll also easily return over 30 mpg on a run.
This one starts and runs sweetly with no apparent problems and the vendor reports that it drives exceptionally well.

SUMMARY

Jaguar ‘X350’ XJs are rapidly attracting more interest as they age and good ones are actively sought after by enthusiasts as well as those who don’t like the more modern appearance of the more recent style of XJ.

With exceptionally pedigree and a lifetime of careful ownership, you’ll struggle to find a better example than this one.
