The Appeal

Widely regarded as one of Jaguar’s finest introductions to the modern market, the XKR is a brilliant example of classy British styling and superb performance. The R stands head and shoulders above the base model XK of its time, boasting improved styling, and perhaps most important of all; a massive Eaton supercharger bolted to the V8.
Today, clean examples of these desirable coupes are becoming rather difficult to find, especially those in as good of a condition as this example. This particular example shows off a beautiful exterior for its age along with great maintenance and service history. As a result, buyers are presented with the opportunity of owning a gorgeous, well-performing, and well-cared-for example of the iconic sports car.

The History and Paperwork

  • 5 former keepers
  • MOT until July 2023
  • Well maintained
  • 2 Keys
  • V5C document present
  • Jaguar handbooks
  • Stamped service booklet
This Jaguar XKR has been enjoyed by just 5 former keepers throughout its 21 years on the road, covering a total of 104 thousand miles at the date of photography. As the included paperwork reflects, this Jag has certainly been well cared for over the years, with numerous service stamps, and a huge collection of invoices. Key invoices detail work such as extensive rust repair & paintwork, timing chain change, belt replacements, water pump replacement, and more.

Throughout the current keeper’s ownership, the car has continued to be treasured, even being treated to the likes of refurbished BBS split alloys, and fresh red XKR brake calipers. As a result of the car’s caring owners, the vehicle now performs brilliantly, despite the mileage covered.
Also included within the vehicle’s paperwork is a collection of previous MOT certificates, the V5C document, and all of the original Jaguar handbooks, including a stamped service booklet.

The Interior

  • Cashmere leather interior
  • Excellent condition
  • Incredibly comfortable
  • Alpine sound system
  • Burl Walnut trim
  • Heated & electric front seats
In true Jaguar fashion, the interior is a superb reminder of the brand’s attention to detail and aim of providing a truly exquisite passenger experience. The cashmere leather contrasts perfectly against the emerald exterior and helps the cabin retain a rather bright and spacious feeling.
A prime example of Jaguar’s luxury touches is the front leather seats, which are both electronically adjustable and feature heated seat functions. Both seats are in rather impressive condition for the mileage of the vehicle, with the driver’s seat of course showing significantly more wear to the bolster as shown in the images. The rear seats, on the other hand, look absolutely fantastic, having likely seldom been sat in, as is the case with many sports cars.
Both door cards, carpeting throughout, headlining and all interior trim pieces look excellent for their age, with the clean carpeting being a rare point to note. In fact, the cabin could quite easily match against that of a much lower mileage example, a true testament to the care shown to the car over the years.
Although all other electronic components and features are believed to be in excellent working order, the current keeper would like to make buyers aware of an issue with the steering wheel reach adjustment feature, which is very common fault. Included with the vehicle will be a new motor ready to replace the current defective unit, and return the steering wheel adjuster to full working order.

The Exterior

  • Emerald paintwork
  • Previously treated for rust
  • Refurbished BBS split wheels
  • Red XKR brake calipers
  • Chrome grille & wing mirrors
  • Excellent condition
  • Beautiful Jaguar coupe styling
It should go without saying that the XK8/XKR shows some of Jaguar’s finest styling, with the XKR taking it one step further with the addition of further design tweaks. This particular example also features chrome wing mirrors, which serve as quite a welcome nod to the XKR’s retro relatives and look excellent against the paintwork.
The emerald paintwork is in excellent condition for its age but does show a few minor defects. Perhaps notable of all is the pictured cracking to the front right wing, lacquer peel to the rear parking sensors, and a slight amount of bubbling near the kick plate.
To complete the look, the vehicle wears a set of refurbished 20” BBS split alloy wheels, complete with Dunlop SportMaxx 5 tyres, with plenty of tread for the new owner to enjoy. Hiding behind the stunning wheels are a set of red XKR brake calipers, certainly a welcome feature on this high-performance car.
As the paperwork will support, this Jag has been given a considerable amount of attention in the past, including new rear outer arches, repaired rear inner arches, new rear quarter panels, and new sills. As a result, this is one of the few examples that doesn’t appear to show any visible signs of corrosion typically found on the rear and in the arches.
Despite a few easily rectifiable age-related marks, this XKR remains one of the finer examples of the iconic sports coupe. Refurbished wheels, brake calipers, and previous rust repair are key points to note and help set this example above the rest.

The Mechanics

  • 4L Supercharged V8
  • Automatic transmission
  • Stainless steel exhaust
  • Drives brilliantly
Hiding under the bonnet is Jaguar’s now legendary AJ-V8, complete in the XKR specification with an Eaton supercharger. This 4L supercharged powerplant provides shed loads of torque, and will happily surprise most cars on the roads today. As modern vehicles seemingly lose their character as the years go on, this almighty supercharged V8 is a sight for sore eyes.
As the vehicle benefits from a fantastic maintenance record, buyers will be pleased to know that this XKR fires up right away, and performs brilliantly. The V8 happily purrs away through a stainless steel exhaust, later erupting into a tasteful roar as you unleash the ponies. All suspension and brake components also work exactly as intended, pairing with a long MOT to provide plenty of reassurance that this Jag won’t disappoint.

It deserves to be mentioned that this example has undergone items of key maintenance, such as a new water pump, new aux belt, supercharger service, and regular servicing as intended by Jaguar.

Summary

This gorgeous XKR finished in emerald presents buyers with the opportunity to own a fantastic example of Jaguar’s beautiful coupe. The car performs brilliantly, showcases numerous new/refurbished components, and benefits from an excellent maintenance record over the years. If you’re looking for one of the few remaining supercharged V8 legends in the wild, this XKR 8 deserves to be your first choice.
