THE APPEAL
Nobody makes small cars like Fiat. Ever since it introduced the original 500, the Italian manufacturer has led the world when it comes to creating tiny cars with giant hearts. Cute to look at, ridiculously good fun to drive and always well-packaged, the smallest Fiats are the best Fiats.
The Seicento is arguably the brand’s last true city car, smaller than the current 500 and introduced as a replacement for the Cinquecento in late 1998, based off the same platform. This one is a pre-facelift SX, which was the plush model in the range with power steering and electric windows.
Having had three previous owners, the Seicento had one long-term keeper between 2002 and 2022, who covered a tiny mileage in the car – often just a few hundred miles a year. As a result, the baby Fiat has covered just 22,290 miles since it left the production line. It was last serviced by Fiat main dealer Desira of Norwich just 50 miles ago in late 2022.
It’s possibly as close as you’ll find to a new one, with a near flawless cabin and superb bodywork.

SUMMARY
Small cars are what Fiat does best, and the Seicento is the company at its city-slicking best. The Seicento is a brilliant city car, perfect for urban drivers, especially with its power steering and electric windows. And with ultra-low insurance groupings, it’s also the ideal first retro car for classic-loving youngsters, or for those who simply want something cool and retro that will cost pennies to own, keep and run.
This is the ideal car for the boom in events celebrating ordinary cars, such as the Festival of the Unexceptional, as well as being an increasingly rare cult car in its own right, and one that has covered less than 1,000 miles a year on average since it was built. You’ll struggle to find a better one.
