The Appeal
This is a nice and honest 190E, the small saloon from Mercedes, which has been family owned since new, with a great service record, mostly with Mercedes, and always been garaged and regularly driven and maintained.
It had a full service in February of this year and would be a nice modern, and very useable classic car that is ready to drive away.
The History and Paperwork
- First registered in 1989
- Serviced by Mercedes annually till 2005
- Serviced by local garage every year since
- Always garaged
- MOT expires 4th October 2022
- V5c present
- 2 sets of keys
- Original owner’s manuals and service book
Originally purchased new by the current owner’s father-in-law who was a Marine Engineer and liked the mechanical simplicity of the 190E, he had the car serviced annually by his local Mercedes Dealer until around 2005 when the current owner took over the car.
Since that time the car has been serviced regularly, and has a well stamped up service book to prove that, though lately, a few services do not seem to have been entered in the book, but there are copies of invoices that fill in any gaps.

The Interior
- Chequered cloth period interior
- Sunroof
- 5-speed manual gearbox
- Used but good condition.
For a 33-year-old car the interior is wearing well but could do with a good valet and deep clean to restore and tidy up its overall look.
Happily there are no rips or damage anywhere in the seat material or anywhere else so a bit of TLC should make it really nice inside.

Carpets do show signs of wear but the original over mats have borne the brunt of the wear to the benefit of the main carpets beneath.
The Exterior
- Nice and original Arctic White paint
- Good wheels and recent new tyres
- Good condition
In overall good condition there are a few small dents and stone chips in the bodywork and as you look round the car there are also a few signs of bubbling paint in places, most notably on the wheel-arches, around the boot release button and on the underside of the doors, but nothing that looks too serious.
Wheels and tyres are all good, as are the bumpers, lights and all rubber seals.
There is a lockable roof rack included.
The Mechanics
- Great service history
- Regularly serviced and used
- Always garaged
- Last fully serviced in February 2022, with very few miles since
The car is reported to run really well, with no issues and still delivers that wonderful smooth Mercedes ride quality.
The most of the exhaust has been replaced with new parts and the most recent MOT threw up advisories for corroded brake lines so that area will need addressing, but that’s about it.
The Summary
This is a nice, well cared for example that needs a bit of tidying up to make it a great example of this popular Mercedes small saloon.
