NO RESERVE - 1986 Mercedes-Benz 560SL (R107) LHD

Photos provided by the vendor

Highlights

  • Desirable US-spec 5.6-litre V8 variant
  • Complete with its hard-top and soft-top roofs
  • Collection of old servicing invoices

The Appeal

There’s a reason that the R107 SL remains so popular and, put simply, it’s because they’re just so good at what they do. With elegant styling, wonderful build quality and a range of capable powertrains, they really are the ‘do it all’ classic roadster.
American Mercedes-Benz customers were particularly fortunate as they were offered the gargantuan 5.6-litre V8 engine. Here we have one such of these 560 SLs, now in the Netherlands awaiting registration and technical inspection.

The History and Paperwork

  • Originally supplied to the USA
  • Now in the Netherlands
  • Offered without technical inspection or EU registration
  • The vendor anticipates that some maintenance may be required in order to pass the technical inspection
  • Supplied with a small collection of old surviving invoices

The Interior

  • Anthracite leather
  • Veneered dashboard
  • Matching black carpeting
  • Driver airbag within the steering wheel
  • Equipped with the optional front armrest
  • Cruise control and air conditioning present
  • Modern Bluetooth Sony stereo fitted, with aftermarket speakers behind the seats
  • Boot compartment carpeted in black

The Exterior

  • US-spec bumpers, headlamps and high level rear brake light
  • Hard-top and soft-top roofs both present
  • Black paintwork
  • Alloy wheels
  • Original optioned without the boot spoiler

The Mechanics

  • 5.6-litre M117 V8 engine
  • Automatic gearbox
  • Known colloquially as “the German Corvette” on account of its impressive V8 performance
  • The vendor anticipates that some maintenance may be required in order to pass the technical inspection

Summary

For fans of the SL, the 560 is the ultimate variant. They’re not so easy to find outside of the USA, so don’t miss the opportunity to acquire this 1986 example.
