The Appeal
Morris Minor Travellers are a part of British history that we all love and this one is provided in what is almost kit car form. The owner has kept the car indoors since 1989 and has amassed a huge selection of new parts ready to fit. With the vast majority of the mechanical parts provided and a chassis that is in excellent condition, along with a well presented Ash frame, it’s a fantastic opportunity to acquire one of these fantastic cars and to have the pleasure of assembling it by hand yourself.
The History and Paperwork
- The same owner since 1989
- Unused and dry stored since 1989
- MOT and Tax exempt
- An invoice for extensive chassis restoration from 1990 totalling over £2000
- An invoice dated 1989 from the renowned specialist S.T. Foreman for a range fo parts including two new sides and doors
- A very large selection of invoices for a huge selection of new parts that are provided with the car including a servo kit for the braking system and new seals all round
The Interior
- Stripped and ready to rebuild
- Most of the interior is provided with the car, with the exception of a front passenger seat and the carpeting which will need to be sourced separately
- New interior material is provided with the car
- Additional older style steering wheel and column is provided
- The seats provided with the car would benefit from being retrimmed
- The finished interior surfaces present well with some age related patina which is befitting of the car
The Exterior
- Good overall condition requiring assembly and light cosmetic work for the most part
- Ash frame appears solid and the surface blemishes fade with light sanding (see images showing the sanded area)
- Ash frame does have a couple of woodworm holes, the owner informs us that these have been treated and there has been no further development
- Finished in green
- Car is provided with bumpers, rear doors, drivers door (primed but requires attention - see photo), rear door hinges, radiator grille and other various components
- Dry stored by the current owner since 1989 the car is in good condition and makes for an excellent base to build from
The Mechanics
- The owner informs us that the engine is from a donor car and prior to disassembly was running very well
- The car is provided with a huge range of mechanical parts included two spare gearboxes, the original and a refurbished SU carburettor, alternator, a selection of hoses, two radiators, a new Yuasa 45Ah battery, fuel and water pumps, new plugs, unleaded fuel catalyst and an assortment of other parts
- The owner informs us that the car was driven into the garage where it is stored under its own power in 2013
- The owner describes the currently fitted gearbox as serviceable if a little noisy
- The chassis and engine bay present extremely well thanks to extensive work carried out in 1989 and having been kept indoors since then
Summary
