THE APPEAL

The Land Rover is a staple of British engineering and an icon within the automotive world. It withholds a unique analogue driving experience that is becoming increasingly difficult to come across in a forever modernising world. 
This Series 3 is presented in good condition. It features a lot of its original parts and has been well kept by its owners over the years. If you’re an enthusiast or looking for a project and looking to jump into a series 3 then this is example is for you.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK

  • Unfortunately a large amount of the paperwork for this vehicle has been lost and yet to be recovered. What we know is; 
  • It was first registered in 1980.
  • OBD is showing 35025 miles.
  • There have been 16 owners since it was first registered. 
  • It is UK registered and as a historic vehicle.
  • Tax and MOT exempt.
  • V5C is present and correct.
  • Receipt for engine rebuild, new alternator and water pump.

THE INTERIOR

  • Simple uncomplicated interior.
  • The interior is mostly original and in reasonable condition. 
  • Door cards are showing signs of wear and aging. 
  • Gauges, switches and electronics within the vehicle are said to be working as they should do.
  • The gauge surrounds are looking a tad worn but we feel this adds character to the vehicle. 
  • The dashboard is original and is very simple and doesn’t have too many imperfections, although some are present. 
  • New seats fitted to the Series 3. 
  • The front and rear benches are in good condition with all sets showing minimal wear or deterioration. 
  • Clarion 5160 speakers are present underneath the dashboard. 
  • Original three-spoke steering wheel is starting to show its age. 

THE EXTERIOR

  • Repainted in dark green. 
  • Paintwork is starting to show its age in places. 
  • The overall presentation of the bodywork is good given the age of the vehicle. 
  • There are signs of corrosion to be aware of on the Land Rover.
  • The body panels look nice and straight.
  • The glass looks to be in good order. 
  • Badging presents really well with no signs of aging or corrosion.
  • Light guards are present on the front and rear of the Land Rover.
  • All lights are presenting well, with minor signs of fading that we noticed.
  • Roof is showing well for its age. 
  • Tow hitch is present and appears to be in good condition. 

THE MECHANICS 

  • Said to start and run well, with no reported mechanical issues to note. 
  • 4-Speed manual transmission. 
  • Four wheel drive. 
  • The Series 3 was subject to an engine rebuild in 2020. 
  • Additionally other parts such as the water pump, fuel tank, battery and alternator have been replaced for new ones to ensure longevity and a reliable drive. These were changed by a previous owner. 

SUMMARY

A well presented and fine example of a classic 1980 Land Rover Series 3. These Land Rovers are becoming increasingly hard to find in good condition so this is would make a great project for someone who is looking to get started with classic vehicles or even a Land Rover enthusiast.
