Ferrari 250 GTO Tachometer

The Part

Another exciting lot has come to us care of one of the UK’s most significant private Ferrari collectors. Namely a tachometer/rev counter from a Ferrari 250 GTO or LM. Arguably the most crucial instrument on the dashboard of these iconic models, this instantly recognisable part could be that vital missing piece, or even the perfect display piece for a Ferrari fan’s office.
This rev counter has been on the ‘treasure shelf’ for at least fifteen years. Possibly much longer. The rear of the instrument is stamped RAPP. 1.4 and ‘VEGLIA MADE IN ITALY’. There are also two ink stampings on the rear. One reads 4N, the other is harder to decipher and in rounder script and reads either 620616 or maybe 620916.
The dial reads up to 100 (x100), the instrument face is clean and original, as is the needle. The adjustable ‘redline’ needle is also still present and functional.
The unit is in exceptional used condition, and even retains the original clamping arms and screw nuts used to secure them. And while the instrument is offered as being untested, there is certainly no visual indication of any damage or cause for it to not work.
While this is believed to be an original item, the nature of it means it’s not entirely possible to verify this. However, being a font of Ferrari-based knowledge, the seller has added that “I cannot assure that this is an original 1960s Tacho, but if it is repro, then it was probably made in the 1980s/ 1990s rather than more recently - modern replicas don't have the stamping on the back.”
Offered with a low reserve, this tachometer could be fitted to a car once more, it could be mounted as a display piece or it could simply further bolster another enthusiast’s parts collection.
