The Appeal
The RS500 Cossy was built to win racers. And in its time, it did. But this recently prepared example takes things one step further It is reputed to be the fastest RS500 ever built.
Checking through the specification and race results, we can’t argue with that claim. It was built as a replica of the Netcom car incorporating the best details from the in-era cars prepared by Andy Rouse and Rudi Eggenberger. It has notched up victories in European series such as Motor Racing Legends Historic Touring Car Challenge and the Tourenwagen Golden Era. This really is one special vehicle that has embarrassed the Skyline competition.
It shows zero miles on the odometer and carries FIA papers valid to 2023. Whether you choose to race it - and surely you will - or add it to your collection, this is a one-off opportunity to acquire arguably one of the greatest RS500s ever built.
The vendor writes:
“This is the fastest historic Sierra RS500 ever built, with the results in the UK and Europe to back this up. It was built brand new in 2020-21 by passionate people who are without doubt at the top of the historic motorsport scene, with the sole purpose of taking the fight to the Skylines and winning, which it has done many times. I love this car and will be very sad to part ways, but as my wife says, I don't need 2 of them.”

The Condition
- Fully rebuilt and carefully detailed race car in black with various decals
- Few blemishes and chips expected from track use
- Generally in very good condition bearing in mind its purpose
- High quality respray in 2021 when the car was newly built
- Car in last raced condition with minor racing panel marks
Specification highlights:
- Acid dipped, fully prepared shell to Group A specification
- FIA roll cage
- Original Cosworth bonnet and bodykit excluding front bumper
- RS500 fiberglass replacement bonnet
- RS500 rear wings

To talk about this car’s condition feels like it sort of misses the point. If it was perfect - which it nearly is - then it wouldn’t wear the marks of its illustrious race-winning history.
The car was built as a replica of the Netcom RS500 and is finished in black with various period-correct decals as shown. The specification is intense, the build being based on lessons learned from the in-period race cars prepared by Rouse and Eggenberger. The car was built by historic racing specialists to a very high standard, as is clear from the photos.

This really is quite a car. The detailed specification, which we’ve summarised above, hints at the experience that lies behind it. The 2L Cosworth engine was built by X-Power to deliver 500bhp at the wheels. Elsewhere the car has been carefully built to ensure all that power gets transferred to the road quickly, safely and securely.
The car has been used but has covered few race miles on these mechanicals - some of the components, such as the gearbox, show zero racing hours. The result is a very high specification race car in superb working order that is ready to deliver for the new buyer.
